THE KAPITANO YACHT WAS IMAGINED AS A VEHICLE SYMBOLIC OF OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY, LIGHT, SIMPLE AND ELEGANT. TODAY IT SERVES AS ESCAPE FROM URBAN LIFE AND A VESSEL TO ENTERTAIN. THE RE-DESIGN PROCESS TOOK PLACE OVER SIX MONTHS AND THE RESULT WAS A ROMANTIC INTERPRETATION OF A CLASSIC ISLAND HOPPING VESSEL, NOW LOCATED AT MARINA DEL RAY, LOS ANGELES.

REDESIGN, RENOVATION AND RESTORATION

A 1989 FOUNTAIN FEVER 38’ WAS CHOSEN, RECOGNISING THE SMOOTH LATERAL LINES, SHE WAS STRIPPED BARE OF HER HEAVY SYNTHETIC CUSHIONING AND REPLACED WITH NATURAL AND WARM MATERIALS SUCH AS WOOD, FELT AND LEATHER. LOGO ENGRAVINGS WERE LASER ETCHED ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENGINE VENTS WITH OUR SIGNATURE FONT USED FOR THE VESSELS LICENSE NUMBER AND BOAT NAME AT THE STERN. CUSTOM PARTS WERE 3D PRINTED WITH 316 STEEL FOR THE NOSE AND ENGINE VENTS.

MATERIALS & DETAILING

SUNBRELLA FABRIC NO.40014 0094 WAS AN OBVIOUS CHOICE TO LINE BOTH INTERIOR/EXTERIOR CUSHIONS FOR ITS DURABILITY. 1 INCH CLOSED CELL THERMOBREAK FOAM WAS ALSO SELECTED FOR ITS WATER REPELLING AND INSULATING PROPERTIES. INTERIOR WALLS WERE LINED WITH ITALIAN MARINE GRADE LEATHER FROM FUTURA AND FASTENED WITH GOLD PLATED SNAPS DIRECTLY TO THE FIBRE HULL. IMTRA LEER GOLD PLATED DOWNLIGHTING CREATED A WARM WHITE LIGHT WHICH WAS JUST ENOUGH FOR THIS COSY CABIN LINED WITH VARNISHED TEAK TRIMMINGS ON BULKHEADS AND WINDOW OPENINGS. A CLASSIC TOUCH NOTABLY SEEN WITH THE RIVA YACHTS IS THE TEAK AND HOLY INTERIOR FLOORING. EXTERIOR DECKING AND PANELS WERE DONE IN FLEXITEEK, CHOSEN AS A LOW MAINTENANCE ALTERNATIVE WHICH REALLY BALANCED OUT THE DEEP BLUES ADDING A NICE CONTRAST TO THE OVERALL FINISH.
